Norsk Utvandrermuseum (The Norwegian Emigrant Museum)
Between 1825 and 2000, about 1 million Norwegians emigrated to overseas destinations. Seen as a percent of the total population, no other European country except Ireland had such large numbers of emigrants. The Norwegian Emigrant Museum shows how past generations lived.
Trysil is Norway’s largest ski resort with 65 slopes and 32 lifts. Trysil has a family profile, and in the summer they offer more than 30 activities.
Trysil offers exciting river activities for all ages. Hiking and biking routes are well marked. Fly fishing and golfing are other popular activities.
Jutulhogget Canyon
A visit to Jutulhogget in Østerdalen, one of Northern Europe’s largest canyons, is a nature experience not to be missed. Allow a few hours to explore the canyon or walk along the edge of the cliff.
Hamar
The beach front curves pleasantly along the outline of the city center. In one end you’ll find the Viking ship and in the other, the almost 1000 year old cathedral. These two buildings can tell you much about the history of Hamar. There are experiences to be had; all the way from the busy beach promenade to the utter quietness of the Hedmarksvidda.
